It’s Peace Concert Time Once Again

For the past twenty-eight years, Seattleites have been congregating at various city parks to soak up the sun and listen to some great music played by local bands. This is an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon, (Noon-6: PM), and it is FREE! They do pass a bucket for donations to help defray the costs of keeping this summer tradition going.

Peace Conference

The Bearded One and I met friends for the kick off concert at Woodland Park. The setting had a nostalgic feeling about it as groups of family and friends gathered around “pot luck” picnics. Some tie dyed shirts, barefoot kids with flowers or stars painted on their faces, and a few wonderfully bearded men added to the feeling of summer gatherings from another time and place.

Our group enjoyed our “pot luck” picnic and a relaxing kick-back day soaking-up the musical offerings and the welcome sun. The music crossed several genres from bands with names such as The Sour Mash band, Lost River String Band and the Tangletown String Band. The Tangletown String Band with seven stringed instruments blending with fine voices was the closing act of the day and a group we look forward to hearing from again.Check out the Peace Concert website, www.seapeace.org/, for dates, parks and all that jazz.

Hope to see some of you at the remaining concerts this year. Did I mention they are free.
