The World Kite Museum of Long Beach, WA once again hosts their January Washington State INTERNATIONAL WINDLESS KITE FESTIVAL. You may ask “how is this possible?” well, just read on as this festival might just be the most fun family activity you are going to find for the month of January. Let’s start with free indoor kite flying lessons, professional demonstrations and contests of individuals, duos and other choreographed air routines performing kite ballet, single line box kite skill, hot tricks shoot out, winged box air routines and much more many set to music.

Long Beach offers many other family activities for you and yours. You can stroll the beach, visit the World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame, the Cranberry Museum, Marsh’s Free Museum, Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum, Willapa Bay Interpretive Center, and Knappton Cove Heritage Center.
Last but not least is my personal favorite, Oysterville. “Today, the entire community is on the National Historic Register and the original one-room schoolhouse and church are still in use for community events. The Oysterville Post Office is oldest continuously operating Post Office in Washington.” Take a walking tour of this delightful old town. Do not forget to visit the Oysterville Cemetery where you can ponder the lives of those who came before.
