Swanson's Nursery

The Bearded One and I decided we needed a pick-me-up after so much rain this late in the season. We thought of a day tour where the flowers are in bloom and Spring has sprung, so to speak. Do you know where to find the following? Elephant Foot, Ponytail, Ladies Mantel, Pink Marshmallow, Creeping Charlie, Red Spider, Royal Air Force, or a Moss Ball. Read on and you will guess the answers.

Seattle has wonderful greenhouse/nurseries with an abundance of plant varieties to choose from for your particular pocketbook and needs. Be sure to take plenty of time and don't forget the kids. Great fun can be had by all. We selected four different areas to tour and here is our report on a truly uplifting day.

Whether you are visiting our area or are one of our very own local residents, be sure to support our locally owned nurseries. A plant or a shrub is always a welcome gift.

Do not be deceived by the modest front entrance, look out back and beyond. This neighborhood nursery has multiple large, glass covered areas full of annuals and perennials just waiting to go home with you, Outside you will find well rooted shrubs and young trees of all shapes sizes and colors. Just the item to replace the one you killed last year.

Inside the main building, you will find gardening tools for every need and of every description. If you are a do it yourself person and want to start your flowers and veggies from seed, look no further, in no time at all your cup will runnuth over and you can supply all your neighbors with zucchini. You will be so popular!

If you take a few steps further on, you will find yourself in "the tropics", a building full of warmth loving plants just waiting to grace your home. Consider what to purchase while having a snack at the cafe. Take a seat at a table near the koi pond surrounded by palm trees, a most relaxing interlude. Take time to look at all the wonderful garden accessories.

Go Green!!!
