Fremont is Seattle’s eclectic Art community. Home of the Troll © Under the Aurora Bridge, the Statue of Lenin, and Waiting for the Interurban.
This diverse community of artists, craftspeople, and design professionals organized to proclaim Fremont an independent state of mind and declared it an Independent ImagiNation. Visit the Sunday Market, every Sunday rain or shine; tour the art galleries and antique shops, grab a bite at one of the many cafes, restaurants, coffee houses or the bakeries, and browse the specialty shops and book stores, or tour the Chocolate factory. Fremont is funky and fun.

June (The weekend of the Summer Solstice Parade)
website
Come to Fremont to celebrate the Summer Solstice. In its 37th year, the Fremont Fair is a great place for everyone to come and enjoy themselves. In 2008 there were 41 bands performing on three stages during this two day blow out. There are also other great events and attractions for the fair-goer to see, Seattle Art Car Blowout! The third largest car show in the country, a truly great craft show/rummage sale, acrobats, clowns, fun stuff for the kids, and of course the Summer Solstice Parade. Solid Ground is the beneficiary of all revenue generated by the fair. Solid Ground’s 30 programs have helped hundreds of thousands of people break the cycle of poverty.
Fremont Arts Council (FAC)
The Fremont Arts Council is the soul of the Fremont neighborhood. Their belief that art is essential to community is the reason this vibrant freethinking neighborhood is a vital part of what makes Seattle such a great place to live and visit.
Undaunted by the narrow minded, who would have us all march lockstep into righteous and political correctness, the Fremont Arts Council use creativity to build a stronger community. They believe art is an integral part of everyday life and promote diversity of viewpoints, backgrounds & art forms.
The following events are made possible by the Fremont Arts Council. Don’t miss a chance to “let your hair down” and join in.
Fremont Summer Solstice Parade (June)

In its 20th year, the annual Fremont Solstice Parade has become Seattle’s favorite art parade. It all began in 1989 and I think the crowds get bigger every year. It’s wild, it’s weird, it’s beautiful, it’s engaging – a breath of free speech where everyone is invited to join in. Be prepared to be surprised, titillated, and perhaps shocked. Let your hair down and enjoy the day as Funky Fremont celebrates the Summer Solstice.
Luminata (September)

If you are in Seattle in September, try to take in the Luminata. Join in on an enchanting walk around Greenlake after dark with lanterns and friends (if not now, certainly by walks end). Most all of the lanterns are home made out of bamboo, reed and tissue paper, or various other materials and techniques. The promenade usually pauses halfway around the Lake at the Seattle Public Theater hill and everyone enjoys a hot beverage and cookies. Someone rightly said, Luminata is the event with the greatest sweetness factor.
Troll O'Ween (November)

Did you like Halloween when you were a kid? Well, you are going to love Troll O’Ween. Join the folks of Fremont as they celebrate The Fremont Troll’s Birthday. Oh, and be sure to wear a costume… and bring the whole family. There’s music, dancing, and performers… join in the “Haunting of Fremont”.
Feast of the Winter Solstice (December)
This is a “by invitation only” event. But if you join the Fremont Arts Council, they’ll send you an invitation. The Feast is a Volunteer appreciation party, a fundraiser and a celebration of the longest night of the year all rolled into one. The money goes to a great cause and everyone has a great time.
Carnivale Voudoo (February)

This is Mardi Gras Fremont style, complete with Zydeco music and dancing. It’s a costume ball the Fremont Arts Council started in 2007 to raise money for the Summer Solstice Parade. So get dressed up and come have some fun in Fremont. Hopefully every February from now on.
May Day Picnic
This is a potluck affair, so bring a big bowl of Aunt Bea’s “secret recipe” three bean salad and join in the celebration of Spring. There will be flowers and ribbons, music and games for adults and children. All they ask is that you don’t leave anything behind. Oh, be sure to bring your own plates, cups, and tableware. Events start at 5: P.M on May 1st.
