Get started on the right track! Designed for new screenwriters, this course will guide you from the conception of the idea through the necessary steps every good screenwriter takes when getting ready to write a screenplay. You'll learn how to develop three-dimensional characters, develop a story outline, and how to write a treatment from that story outline. Once you're equipped with these necessary tools, you're ready to turn your story into a screenplay!

Because of the time constraints, students will receive feedback by email after the workshop on work submitted, at no extra charge.

WALLY LANE has sat on the Board of the Northwest Screenwriters Guild (NWSG) for many years. He is an award-winning writer and filmmaker, a published poet, and has written articles and book reviews for several publications, including Journey. Wally’s film, “Winos & Pigeons” was honored at the Houston WorldFest. As long-time Chairman of the NWSG's Compendium committee, Wally has mentored scores of new screenwriters by helping them write to “Industry Standard.” Wally has been writing screenplays for fifteen years. He and his writing partner, Wash Phillips, have over twenty screenplays completed or in development across a wide range of genres. Many of these scripts have been or are currently optioned.
Wally is an alumnus of the University of Washington Extension Certificate Program in Screenwriting and The Film School, a Seattle-based institution of national repute. He is also a regular panelist at the annual Writing Conferences including Pacific Northwest Writers Association's and the Surrey International Writers Conference.
